Beautiful weather, long days, the beach. Ahhh summer- So short, but oh so sweet! This summer, leave the traditional BBQ behind and Plan Summer Spa Party instead.

With just a few weekends left until summer officially comes to a close, it’s the perfect way to get your girlfriends together for one last, relaxing hoorah.

Here are a few ideas on how to host your own Backyard Summer Spa Party:

Spa Supplies:

Facials and Mani/Pedis are a must for every spa party. With the right supplies, you’ll be able to recreate a great spa experience in your own backyard with little effort or money.

Facials (Total Cost for party of 5: $15-$21):

  • 1 Mud Mask Tube ($5-$10 each)
  • 1 Small Bowl ($0)
  • 1 Applicator Brush per guest ($6 for pack of 9)
  • 1 Cucumbers ($2-$3 each)
  • 1 Face towels per guest ($1 for pack of 3)

Pick up a tube of your favorite mud mask and cute bowl from around the house. You won’t want everyone sticking their fingers in the bowl (yuck!), so you’ll want to give each guest her own applicator. Foam paint brushes work great for applying mud masks and can be found at your local craft or hardware store.

Don’t forget to cut up slices of fresh cucumbers for the eyes!

You’ll also want to make sure each guest has a  face towel to remove her mud mask. You can grab face towels at your local Dollar Tree- just $1 for 3 towels. They’re soft and do the trick!

Nails (Total Cost for party of 5: $12)

  • Nail Polishes ($0)
  • 1 Travel-Size Nail Polish Remover per guest ($1 each)
  • 1 Bag of Cotton Balls ($2)
  • 1 Nail File per guest ($1 each)

For each guest, grab a travel size nail polish remover and a nail file. Sally Beauty supply has great selection of professional, yet inexpensive nail files for under a dollar.

Rather than shopping Essie’s latest collection, ask each guest to bring their favorite lacquer to the party. It’s a great way to have a nice selection of colors without the expense! At the end of the party, each girl can take her polish back home.

If you’re not on a budget, consider enlisting a freelance manicurists to join the festivities.

Personalize It!

Package the supplies into an adorable little homemade Spa Kit for each of your guests. There are some great ideas of how to do this on Pinterest. One simple method is to wrap the nail polish remover, nail file, and application brush in the face towel and tie it with a ribbon. Add a tag with each person’s name.

Decor (Total Cost: $20)

  • Lounge Chairs ($0 use any chairs you have)
  • Fresh followers ($10)
  • Music ($0)
  • Magazines ($10)

Place a bouquet or two of fresh cut flowers on a side table near the lounge chairs. Trader Joe’s has a great selection of beautiful flowers for under $6. (We <3 TJ’s sunflowers.) As for music, Pandora has a great “Relaxation” station that has spa-like tunes.

Also, pick up a few magazines! As they relax, your guests may want to catch up on the latest celebrity gossip.

Food & Drink:

Keep it light and easy. Each of these recipes is super simple and contains less than 3 main ingredients:

Watermelon, Feta & Mint Salad: So delicious! Here’ s the recipe for this healthy summer salad.

Whole Wheat Crackers with Chopped Fruit & Vanilla Yogurt Drizzle: Our own take on fruit bruschetta! Cut up fresh strawberries and canned peaches into tiny pieces. Place on whole wheat crackers and drizzle with Vanilla yogurt. (We used Carrs Whole Wheat Crackers for this and it came out great!)

Prosciutto e Melon: Cut cantaloupe into chucks. Wrap a piece of prosciutto around each chunk and serve. Sweet and salty all in the same bite. Yum!
